Why state nomination matters
State or territory nomination can be the difference between receiving a PR invitation and waiting indefinitely. With competitive cutoffs rising each round, the additional points from a state nomination are often essential.
Subclass 190 — State Nominated Permanent
A permanent residency visa. You must commit to living and working in the nominating state or territory for at least 2 years after visa grant. Each state has its own occupation list and nomination requirements.
Subclass 491 — Regional Provisional
A 5-year provisional visa requiring you to live and work in regional Australia. After 3 years of regional residence and work, you can apply for the Subclass 191 permanent residence visa.
